I had a place in Winter Haven, FL for about 4 1/2 years. During that time I found out you do NOT get your water deposit back until service is disconnected. Did not like that but realized I HAD to live with it. We sold our place a couple weeks ago and when I called to have the water stopped the said they would read it the next day which was Aug. 3. Yesterday I got the, what I thought would be the final bill. Meter was read July 25 so bill did not say FINAL on it. I called the water department and they said I would get a final bill when the meter is read at the end of August and then would receive my deposit approx. 3 weeks after that. I asked if I would actually have to pay the $23 minimum charge for ONLY 8 days and they could not (or would not) answer my question. I was also told they would probably take the final bill out of my deposit and I then told them when I called to have the final reading that is what I was told then the very next sentence out of their mouth was I would get a final bill then 3 weeks later the deposit. This means I disconnected service on August 3 and the soonest I will get my deposit back will be the middle to last of September. They sure did not give me that long to pay my deposit when I started the service. I think the ratings speak for themselves - EVERY rating only gave 1 star. No sense wasting you time posting reviews because they are not going to change. Notice the one comment below that was written 3 months ago and finally got responded to a week ago!
Thus public utility company is worse than cosa nostra, I would have better chances of negotiating with the mafia before dealing with this farse government agency.
Horrible customer service. They don't contact you when your bill is past due or about to be cut off. No management I don't want to be contacted or for my account to be looked up. Spoke with management already in relation to my bill and you were no help.
Jessica called me to ask why I sent in money since my water bill is automatically paid. (Money was sent in response to receipt of a bill for business license). When I called back to answer, my call went to automatic hold where I was forced to listen to advertisements I don't want to hear. I endured this for ten minutes, then called again, upon which they answered and immediately put me on hold again, and never came back to the call.
Good luck getting someone on the phone. I have called 3 times at different times of the business day, and never have gotten through. The machine asks if I want to leave a message for them to call me back... you know, after waiting several minutes listening to advertisements... Gotta love monopolies!!!
